Operated by Nterlace Solutions · Reddit OAuth client
A Reddit workspace that waits for your approval.
Nterlace Reddit Assistant helps one authorized person follow the conversations they care about, organize the threads worth answering, and draft replies in their own voice. Nothing reaches Reddit until that person reads the draft and presses submit.
Illustration of the assistant's review screen. A watch list shows four subreddit-and-keyword pairs with match counts. A queue shows two matched threads, each marked "needs review". Below them, a drafted reply sits in an editable box with Approve and submit, Edit, and Discard controls, above the line "Nothing is submitted until you approve it."
Six things, and nothing else
The assistant is a single-user workspace. Every capability below is scoped to the person who authorized it, and every capability that writes to Reddit requires that person to act first.
Topic monitoring
You choose the subreddits and keywords worth following. The assistant reads public posts and comments through the Reddit API and surfaces what matches, so you are not refreshing feeds by hand.
Thread triage
Matches land in a queue you can sort, filter, and clear. Threads you dismiss stay dismissed. Nothing re-enters the queue on its own.
Draft assistance
The assistant writes a first draft of a post or reply, grounded in the thread you are actually looking at. Drafts are fully editable, and in practice most get edited before they go anywhere.
Review before anything ships
Drafts sit in a review state until you approve them. Approval is a deliberate, per-item action. There is no bulk approve, no scheduled auto-send, and no unattended posting mode.
Your account, your voice
Approved content is submitted through your own Reddit account under your own OAuth authorization. The assistant does not own or operate a Reddit account of its own.
Activity log
Every API call made on your behalf is recorded with a timestamp, the endpoint, and the resulting action — so you can audit exactly what the assistant did and when.
Five steps, one of which is you
The workflow is deliberately linear. Each step hands off to the next only when the authorized user moves it forward.
-
You authorize your account
You sign in on Reddit's own OAuth screen and grant a short list of permissions. Nterlace never sees, requests, or stores your Reddit password. You can revoke the authorization at any time.
-
You choose what to watch
You define the subreddits and keywords worth following. The assistant reads only public content, and only within the watch list you set up. It does not wander into subreddits you did not name.
-
The assistant drafts
For threads you mark as worth answering, the assistant produces a draft reply or post. The draft references the thread it came from, so you can check it against the original before you touch it.
-
You review
Every draft opens in a review view with the source thread beside it. You rewrite it, approve it, or discard it. Most drafts get rewritten, and that is the intended use.
-
You submit — or you don't
Approved content is submitted through the Reddit API under your account. Drafts you never approve expire in the queue and are deleted. This step does not run on a timer and does not run without you.
What this tool will not do
The list on the left is not aspirational. Each item is either impossible under the scopes we request, or blocked in the product itself. Where a capability was tempting to build, we left it out rather than sit near the line.
The assistant does not
Prohibited behaviors
- Spam. No repetitive content, no template blasts, no posting the same message across multiple subreddits.
- Vote or manipulate votes. The
votescope is never requested, so the assistant is technically incapable of upvoting or downvoting anything. No vote rings, no brigading, no coordinated voting of any kind. - Send direct messages. No automated DMs, no chat messages, no cold outreach. The private-message scope is never requested.
- Bulk post or mass cross-post. Submissions are one at a time, each individually approved. There is no queue-everything button and no cross-post-to-all feature.
- Run multiple accounts for one person. One Reddit account per authorized user. No account pools, no rotation, no help evading a ban, suspension, or subreddit removal.
- Scrape private data. Only public content the granted scopes reach. No modmail, no private subreddits, no attempt to read anything the authorizing user could not read themselves in a browser.
- Resell or redistribute Reddit data. Content pulled through the API is used to run this workspace for the user who pulled it. It is not sold, licensed, syndicated, or used to train models.
- Act unattended. No write to Reddit is triggered by a schedule, a rule, or an autonomous loop. A person clicks approve, or it does not happen.
Limits we enforce
Operational commitments
- Rate limits. The client honors documented Reddit API rate limits, reads the rate-limit response headers, backs off on
429, and respectsRetry-After. Requests are not parallelized to work around a ceiling. - Identifiable user agent. Every request sends a descriptive
User-Agentnaming the platform, app, version, and the operating account, as Reddit's API rules require. - One account per user. An authorized person connects a single Reddit account. Connecting additional accounts to circumvent limits or moderation is not supported.
- Human approval on every write. Submit and edit calls originate from an explicit per-item action in the interface. There is no code path that submits without one.
- Subreddit rules surfaced. Users are shown a subreddit's rules before their first submission there, and moderator removals are reported back into the queue so the user sees them.
- Revocation is immediate. Revoking access at reddit.com/prefs/apps ends all access at once. Stored tokens are deleted, and the assistant stops making calls on that account.
- Compliance with Reddit's terms. Operation follows the Reddit Developer Terms, the Data API Terms, and the Reddit Content Policy. If a feature conflicts with them, the feature loses.
Why this is not a Devvit app
Devvit and this product solve different problems
Devvit is the right container for an app that lives inside a subreddit and serves everyone who visits it — moderator tooling, custom post types, community features that a subreddit installs and its members use in place.
Nterlace Reddit Assistant belongs to one person, not to a subreddit. It spans many subreddits at once, it holds a review queue and a drafting workspace that live outside Reddit, and it sits alongside the other tools in that person's day. Its most-used screen — the one where a human reads a draft and decides whether it ships — is not a Reddit surface at all.
That workflow needs an external dashboard authenticated as the user, which is exactly what the Reddit API and OAuth exist for. No subreddit installs this app, and it has no community-facing surface to install. A Devvit app would be the wrong shape for the product and the wrong experience for the user.
Minimum scopes, stated plainly
The assistant requests the smallest set of OAuth scopes that lets it do its job. If a feature would require a broader scope than the ones below, that feature does not ship.
Scopes requested
Granted by the user at authorization
-
identityConfirm which Reddit account authorized the assistant, so drafts and submissions are attributed to the right person. -
readRead public posts and comments in the subreddits the user chose to monitor. -
mysubredditsList the subreddits the user already subscribes to, to populate the monitoring picker instead of making them type names by hand. -
historyRead the authorizing user's own posts and comments, so drafts match their voice and do not repeat something they already said. -
submitSubmit a post or comment. Called only after the user approves that specific item in the review screen. -
editEdit or delete content the assistant submitted, so the user can correct a typo or retract a comment from the same place they approved it.
Scopes deliberately not requested
Never asked for, never granted
-
voteThe single most important omission. Without it, vote manipulation is not a policy promise — it is a technical impossibility. -
privatemessagesNo direct messages, no modmail, no automated outreach of any kind. -
subscribeThe assistant does not join or leave subreddits on the user's behalf. -
modconfigmodpostsmodflairmodlogmodmailNo moderator capabilities. This is not a moderation tool. -
accountNo changes to profile details or account preferences. -
flairwikieditlivemanagecredditsNot needed by any feature, so not requested.
If the final scope list changes, this page is updated before the change ships.
What we store
Data handling
- Stored: the authorizing account's Reddit username, an encrypted OAuth token, the user's monitoring settings, and the drafts the user created.
- Not stored: Reddit passwords, which we never see or request; private messages; and any personal data about other Reddit users beyond the public content of threads that matched a watch term.
- Retention: cached public thread content is kept only long enough to render the queue and is cleared on a rolling basis. Drafts remain until the user deletes them or closes the account.
- Transport and storage: all traffic over HTTPS. Tokens are encrypted at rest and scoped to a single user — no token is shared across accounts.
- Deletion: revoking access at reddit.com/prefs/apps, or emailing oc@nterlace.com, removes stored tokens and account data.
What the user controls
User control
- Authorization is granted on Reddit's own OAuth screen and can be revoked from Reddit at any time, without asking us.
- The watch list is defined entirely by the user and can be edited or emptied at any point.
- Every draft is editable before approval, and discarding is always available beside approving.
- Every submission lands under the user's own account, visible in their own Reddit history, editable and deletable by them through Reddit directly.
- The activity log is visible to the user, so the record of what the assistant did is theirs to inspect, not just ours.
